Things to pack for the WHW

The West Highland Way

So, here’s the thing: in a mere 17 days time on the 13th April 2017, I will be travelling up to Glasgow and then on to Milngavie to start The West Highland Way – a 95 and a half mile journey northwest(ish) to Fort William.  If the weather permits, a bonus hike up Ben Nevis will be in order on my final (rest?) day in Scotland, although, to be honest, if permission is denied, the alternative, a trip the local Ben Nevis Distillery, doesn’t exactly sound too bad!

So, time to dust off my equipment and say hello again to my drybags, my JetBoil and yes, my solar panel and a warm welcome (hopefully) to a four season sleeping bag, a GoPro (hey, why not) and the cutest of titanium, solid fuel stoves.  With maps and books at the ready; train tickets, bus tickets, hotels, hostels and campsites booked, I am ready . . .

Well, sort of.  I can hardly say that I have done a vast amount of training, as this would be a bear faced lie, with me the only victim.  Instead, I have done just enough at lunch times for my tendinitis to flare up.  In the other foot. Seriously?  Bleh, as long as the nurse at Guy’s Hospital doesn’t find out, as she will hunt me down, I’ll be fine!
